Chit Chat Friday with Love Soap

I had read about Love Soap awhile back on another mum blog I read, sorry can't remember which now and was intrigued by Love Soaps concept and was truly happy to hear about a new organic range for kids. I am very picky when it comes to beauty products and once I find something I love, I usually don't switch. I had met the lovely ladies of Love Soap at Bubble and they gave me a sample of their Organic Mandarian & Argan oil Shampoo and Bodywash. The smell was so nice and Edith seemed to like it too!!! Now I'm a big fan of Love Soap. I had a lovely chit chat with the sisters of Love Soap, Charlotte, Emily and Claire and this is what they had to say!

     1.    TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELVES. WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?

We are three sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Claire. Charlotte has worked alongside her husband in his soap making business for over 10 years and so had a wealth of experience in the industry. Emily was a specialist neuro OT for the NHS and Claire was a theatre vet nurse at a large animal hospital.

When our children came along we wanted to work in a much more flexible way that fitted around family life, and we were also disappointed by the products available for children – both in terms of the performance and the sometimes harmful nature of ingredients used in many of the well known household brands – something we hadn’t really considered before having our own babies.

     2.    HOW DID THE IDEA FOR LOVE SOAP COME ABOUT?

Having children made us increasingly conscious of the products we were using. Many contain artificial man made ingredients that can irritate delicate young skin and some of the more natural alternatives didn’t quite perform in the way we wanted.

With Charlotte’s background in the industry, we knew we could produce our own skin care range using natural and organically grown ingredients that we would be happy to use on our own children

     3.    HOW DOES LOVE SOAP DIFFER FROM OTHER BABY BEAUTY PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET NOW?

Our products have a very high organic content and consumers can have confidence in the ingredients we use. Our packaging is also important to us. We wanted our products to be fun and appealing to both children and the adults buying them! Our products are also hand made by us and we put a lot of love and care into this process so that every bottle meets our own high standards.

WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO KNOW ABOUT LOVE SOAP?

You can totally trust that our products are truly organic and natural. They are made to high health and beauty and organic standards as set by the soil association. The UK regulatory body for organic growers and producers. This involves a rigorous inspection process each year. All of our products are also cosmetically tested and certified to EU standards.  

     4.    WHEN CREATING SCENTS, WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION?

Our scents have been determined by the essential oils that are safe for use with young children. We use Mandarin and Lavender oils which smell divine but also have calming and relaxing qualities. We are passionate about using the most natural of ingredients only and do not include any artificial perfumes in our products.

     5.    DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE SCENT, FLOWER, HERB? THAT YOU TRY TO INCORPORATE INTO YOUR PRODUCTS?

We all love Rose oil however it is too strong for young skin. Perfect for parents though so we are hoping to develop a range for Mums next year.

     6.    WHEN WORKING DO YOU LISTEN TO MUSIC? IF SO, WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO NOW? There is always music on in the workshop. We listened to a lot of the Stones growing up but we do love a bit of funk and soul. We love a diva! From the likes of Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross to Beyonce.

     7.    IF YOU COULD COLLOBARATE WITH ANYONE IN THE WORLD, WHO WOULD THIS BE? WHY?

     8.    DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVOURITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS YOU SWEAR BY?

     9.     WHAT CAN’T YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT?

Always have a lip balm floating around in my bag, at the moment I can't get enough of Neal's yard organic Shea nut and rose hip lip balm. I often find my three year old slathering it on!

     10.  BEST ADVICE SOMEONE HAS GIVEN YOU?

To be brave, take risks and accept failure as part of the process - starting a business takes a lot of hard work and determination.

     11.  WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE TO US

     See above! Hehe! I know it’s a bit of a cliché but nothing worth having comes easy… this can be applied to everything we do, not just work. And most important to enjoy what you do!

     12.  FAVOURITE SPRING/SUMMER ACTIVITY?

Picnics!! Eating outside wherever and whenever and spending as much time outdoors with our families as much as we can.

     13.  WANTS NEXT FOR LOVE SOAP? ANY EXCITING NEWS OR EVENTS COMING UP FOR LOVE SOAP?

We have just been awarded our organic trade licence from the soil association which is very exciting for us as it gives our products and the way in which we make them real credibility.

We are also working on some designs for gift sets which we also hope to launch this summer in the UK and Europe.
